I highly recommend the "Love Comes Softly" series, even my boys (Mr. Chef and Drummer Boy...LOL) love to watch. These Hallmark movies are based on books by Janette Oke. They take place during pioneer times and follow a family for several generations. After we saw them back-to-back on the Hallmark channel one Saturday, I started purchasing them. Then as a surprise this summer, I bought the first four books in a boxed set on amazon. Curly Girl was thrilled...to say the least. Ironically, they came right after we got home from the library and Curly Girl started the first book about 3pm, stopped for dinner, and by almost midnight, she had also read books 2 & 3...these are 200+ page books! She says the first one follows pretty close to the movie, but the following books have more characters and some differences. They are wholesome, clean, and good family entertainment...and even for the boys has sheriffs, robbers and Indians.

I have purchased the movies at Hastings and Walmart...recently all of them are in Walmart because the last movie was released on DVD this summer, and I bought the 4-book boxed set on Amazon and plan on purchasing the 2nd boxed set soon...didn't think Curly Girl would read them that fast.
